The Jon Audain Award for using technology to enhance creativity in the classroom
Jon Audain was the Chair of TPEA from 2019 to 2022 whilst working as a Senior Lecturer in Primary ICT and Music at the University of Winchester. Jon had a passion for working with and mentoring teaching students with a focus on ICT, Educational Technology and music and TPEA have named this award in his honour.
Jon was a very experienced primary teacher and also worked as an ICT consultant, freelance writer, instrumental teacher, and Advanced Skills Teacher. Creativity was central to all of Jon’s work and played an important role in his life. He worked as a freelance musician and conductor, performing in a range of different ensembles from saxophone ensembles, rock bands through to a flute, oboe and piano trio. He inspired teachers to use technology creatively and to encourage children and young people to be creative with technology.
The Jon Audain Award for using technology to enhance creativity in the classroom is intended to recognise and celebrate both teachers who have used technology in creative and innovative ways, and those who have used technology to enable children to be creative. This may include musical creativity but we are also interested in acknowledging other forms of creativity.
How to Apply
You should submit a 500-1000 word blog post sharing what you did for an audience of TPEA members (i.e. teachers and teacher educators). You can include images or video in your post if you wish and we would encourage this (please ensure you have appropriate permissions and copyright clearance).
You should also provide a reference to support your claims – this could be a short supporting statement confirming that the content of the blog post is accurate and identifying any lasting impact of your work. This may be from a Headteacher, line manager, university partner, or any other education professional who can comment on your role and the impact of your work.
Shortlisted blog posts will be published on the TPEA website (supporting statements will not be published) and one winning submission will be awarded £500 to be used in any way to support your learning, development or practice. In addition, you will be awarded travel and accommodation funding to enable you to attend the TPEA conference to share your work.
